when both are stock they are about equal but if you are planning on addig mods i would suggest going with the 400 it has much more hop-up potential.

you can turn a 400 Scrambler into a 60+ HP easily. Top speed is between 60-65 on 400 and 500 i believe, dont jump over 5ish feet, and get a chain tensioiner if you do jump it, trails it is an AWESOME machine. Keeps up with sport quads, muds like utility quads, what more could you want! with some clutch tweeking and a pipe, the front end wont want to be on the ground! so wheelies are easy after about $20 for a new spring. its an ALL AROUND great machine, i REALLY recommend it.

The scrambler is heavier than the raptor. It does jumps okay. If you look on the board, people break chains and stuff like that. The front end is pretty heavy and does not do wheelies very well.

I am actually thinking about getting a raptor or predator. I am curious what you don't like about the raptor.

if you keep your chain tightened correctly, and GET a chain tensoner, loose the stock chain and sprokets, you WILL NOT have trouble with breaking chains! of course it is heavy, it IS a 4x4 machine! and, it will wheelie GREAT if your change your primary clutch spring or get a clutch kit and new pipe

I agree with that. I can do WAY better wheelies than my friends with a DS and Pred can.

I think my Scrambler is the best all around quad ever built.

I have a hard time keeping the front end down now and it's a 4x4. I can't wait until I take the 4x4 off to see what it does. I don't do any jumping.....I like the thrill of the speed and trail riding.

I agree with Fishlab. It's the best all around quad there is. I don't really like to shift so it's perfect for me. It also wheelies like a dream which I love to do. If you get one and you trail or race mod it you'll really be grinning.

Trails is great!
Jumps good.
Dunes is great!
My top speed is around 76.(Depending on gearing)
Handling is OK. (Not as good as your Raptor)
