Is warranty affected at all? I thought that there was some law that manufacturers couldn't require the use of their own lubrication products.

Thanks!

the only thing a manufacturer can do is recommend the use of their oil and the oil you use must meet or exceed the quality of their oil. if that makes since. if the oil you use exceeds the standard, the standard being the oil they say use, then you should be fine. if you put amsoil in a mechanically sound engine and it fails due to that oil then amsoil will warranty it. the cause of the meltdown must be the oil and not the lack of it or lack of changing it. whoever told you that you have to use polaris oil is feeding you a line of crap and they just want to sell their stuff.

hope this helps

ditto that. i think it has to meet or exceed polaris specs and if they won't warranty it they must provide it for you at no cost. you can also go to amsoil.com they have butt loads of info to read about warranty stuff. good luck!

I'm the one that said he needed to use Polaris oil. The reason I said that was the dealer said it would void my warranty. Also there is no guess work if you just use the Polaris oil. I never said he just had too, i said thats what I do. But yea your answer sounds right on, and makes since. I will print this off and show my dealer just to see what they say. LOL, have a good day!

polaris 5610,
ther was no offense taken to your post and i'm sorry if i seemd that way. if your dealer says that he won't waranty your machine if you use amsoil, i would like to know who he is and his phone number because he is wrong. harley motorcycles used to be the same way. they damned the use of synthetic oils in their bikes and would tell people that synthetics would ruin the engine, BS. now they have thier own line of synthetic oils that you are supposed to use, more BS. after harley came out with the new line of oils it took me 2 weeks to get a case of 20W-50 V-twin oil that usually takes only 3 days. people are starting to wise up to the fact that dealers are only trying to make more money by charging the customer for their products which are over priced to begin with rather than using a cheaper better oil. warranty
PM me if you have any more questions

hope this helps
