But every one of them costs money which I don't have. Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll look into some radiator scoops and one of those nifty intercoolers.

As I've said, I've done all the above listed with the exception of the in-line cooler, and the header coating(although I want to do so soon ), and my fan still runs VERY often. I understand that those two extra items will "help", but its not going to make a meraculous difference. I think the biggest concern the man had was whether or not he was over heating his motor.

And I don't really buy the fan running too often link to tranny failures....... That sounds link internet gossip to me. If your changing your oil as recommended(or more often), and are getting fresh oil in before the existing oil breaks down too much I see no link between the two. From all the tranny failures I've heard it was from faulty equipement/machining or abuse of equipment. Not oil melecular break down.

Am I speaking english here? The higher temps, not just the fan running. There is no link to EMF instilling some sort of mechanical influence. Keeping things cool, keeps mechanical systems/components operating in a comfortable arena, hence this translates to greater reliability. All of the earlier mentioned mods are very inexpensive, and can be done in progression....one at a time as your budget allows. Great bang for the buck in performance.

This isn't rocket science, but just plain common sense. Get the heat out of the engine/trans.

Your speaking english just fine Mod , I just don't buy that not doing these things sets me up to be any more prone to transmission failure. Sticking a ring, burning up a piston, maybe, but not placing anymore stress on my transmission.

And the fact that I'm talking about the oil breaking down from temperatures would lead you to believe that I understood you were speaking of engine temps wouldn't it? As long as your changing your oil as you should I would think that temperatures could only effect oil break down, which would cause excessive wear on your parts. Not just the heat itself.

I'm not trying to be an @ss here Modquad, just playing devils advocate.

Play it all you want. With this powerplant having a common sump for the engine and trans.....hmmm, the reputable source that first suggested this isn't just an internet rumor mill.

I agree with Ken.....and you say that maybe a piston could fail, but you don't believe there is stress on the tranny?? What? Do you understand that they are linked together and the same oil is running through both of them?? It makes perfect sense Ken, I understand.

also agrees with ken. sure clean fresh oil will aid in the performance of the machine flynbryan
But making the engine and trans run cooler with mods will only create more performance and longevity
A cooler running engine makes happy engine..............................
