Default Scrambler Plowing

I was thinking about buying a plow for my 400. I was wondering if I'm asking for trouble because I don't have low range. I bought a new house and sold my plow truck with the old house. This is the first time I'm without a truck with plow or a tractor. I can't decide between a plow for the Scrambler or a snowblower. My driveway is 2 cars wide and maybe 75-100' long. If we get the rare real big snow storm, I could always bring one of the plows from work home. I was just thinking of the storms up to 6" or so - will the Scrambler work? I got worn out stock tires, so I know I'll have to change them. My main concern is burning belts.

Belt burning could be an issue. I know the power is there for you to put to good use, though. I have an idea that would work, although you would need to stay in 2WD. Gear it down a tooth or so in the front and up 2-4 teeth in the back. That would lower the gear ratio quite a bit and might make up the difference. They make an 11 tooth for the front also, so something like 11-38 or 11-40 instead of the 13-36 would be a big change and you could probably use the stock chain just adjusting it some. I know it could take 30min or so to swap it out, but you might not use it for any other things in the winter. Even if you did you just need to make sure it stays in 2WD.Hope this might help,Bubba

I used mine for a year or so. After reclutching to an agressive performance clutch, it didn't work as well. The engagemint rang went up, so it would just spin the tires. If you use the stock clutch it should do fine, but it isn't going to push the real heavy wet stuff without some speed.. I used to plow our whole street with it, just to give ou an idea.... did great, but would be better with a low gear...

I would think you would be fine in the light stuff, but anything over 6-8 inches or if it is really wet I wouldn't try as you will burn a belt quickly, and when you are plowing, keep it moving good, as I'm sure you know then it wont slip the belt much.
