I really hope the SP400 is 2-stroke. That 2-stroke Polaris motor is the bomb. Does anybody know for sure what it will be?

im pretty sure its a four-stroke. 2001 is the last year for 2-strokes so they wouldent add a machine for only one year if it was a 2-stroke.Polcat can tell u for sure though.

i believe i made a post awhile back saying that i had seen a 700 twin, it was here for a photo shoot and a lot of people didn't believe me but i'm glad to hear other people are getting some confirmation on this so maybe people will start believing....the 700 twin is going to be a sportsman...not a sport as of yet...basically it's a 700 v-twin engine in the original 500 frame that likes to burn alot of belts right now.....it wouldn't surprise me that the first year 700's would cost about a grand or so more than the 500...limited supply and not a lot playing with the price from dealers...this is no different then when the 800rmk came out it was $1,000.00-$1,200 more than the 700rmk and that was just for some larger jugs and pistons...might have to wait awhile on the 700 twin to get a little better deal but when the newness wears off i would say around $6500.00-$6800.00 is about what you'll be paying...tough to wait .....later

not trying to nit-pick, but the 700 is NOT a "V" engine, it is a twin cylinder though. Ride'em Hard Polcat

polcat2...have you seen the new 700 engine?...it was tough to see when looking at it in the truck (boy it sure did look like a v-twin)and the driver and dealer were talking and they had metioned a v-twin engine so i just assumed they were talking about the engine in the 700sp but they may have been talking about something else...sorry about the mis-information...later

Now you guys have presented me with a problem. I was going to trade in my current ride for a new 335 sportsman and also pick up a new trailblazer. I guess now I'd better wait and check out this 400 sportsman. I also wonder will the trailblazer be changed or even discontinued?

I think a color that would stand out for the 700 would be blaze orange. You would see that machine from a long ways away, and would be cool looking at night too.

polcat
i assume its a inline twin then right?
wouldnt an inline twin weigh more than a v-twin?
i dident think there was enough width to fit a inline twin in the sportsmans frame.

The 1st pilot run of 700SP's are Yellow. The engine is an in-line twin. The frame is altered to handle the bigger bore engine/HP. Should be a "blast". We'll see....... Polaris will need an new assembly line for the 700. May take a month to renovate for mass production. Ride'em Hard Polcat
