Hi. The front wheels on my 99 Scrambler have huge dents in them - I have hit some very large rocks on the trails here in PA. I am thinking of replacing all four wheels with ITP Steel Wheels. Are these steel wheels stronger than Douglas 1.90 alloy wheels? Does anyone else make a steel wheel for Polaris? I can't see spending $400.00 for the Douglas Ultimate wheels, but I think $200 is reasonable for the Douglas 1.90. What is everyone else using. The stock Polaris wheels are way too soft. Thanks.

The steel wheels are stronger, but they weigh more and are ugly.

The Ultimates are expensive, but strong. Also check out "race wheels" or also called reinforced rims, which have a ring that runs the edge of the wheel to prevent dents.

Thanks, will the Douglas 1.90 hold up well, or should I just go with the steel wheels?

Try ITP T-9 Edge rims.

They are .190 Aluminum with the edge of the rims rolled over..i have them on my 300EX, if you want i can go out and snap a picture with my digital camera and post it for you.

I just ordered Douglas .190 a couple of days ago. They are also claming now to have the rolled bead construction... Just an FYI.
I don't think you can go wrong with either. My one friend orderd .160's They are OK, but have already dented. Go with the .190s !

i snapped a couple pictures of my ITP Edge rims.

These are really sturdy rims. I smashed a rock into one and it didn't do anything but put a scratch on it.

They are actually pretty shiny..mine are just dirty

Thanks. I believe I am going to go with either ITP or Douglas Alloy's. Thanks for your help.

Bud

Go with ITP T9. Stick holeshots all round. If you are still worried about denting the rims, an engineer can weld rings into the wheels. Get them inside and out, and you will have wheels that will bend you before you bend them!
