Default oil in the filter

i was riding my scrambler 500 which is a 2002 model today and after driving i decided to look at mt filter. when i looked inside the air box there was oil everywhere. this happen to me before but not like this much. the last time i cleaned out my box and my k&n airfilter would probaby be 2 months ago. what i am asking is why do i have oil in there and is there anyway that i can stop the oil coming in.

well if you are running it cold with high rpms then the excess oil and air will blow into the air filter box...just try let it warm up for 5min or so in tthe summer then try it i bet there wont be any oil in there...just a thought...

Do you stand the machine on end at all? Or were you doing a lot of wheelies or rolled it?
