Tire Punchure
#1
well on my '03 sp 600 i got a slow leaking left rear tire and i found the hole and i dont know what to do to fix it...i think it was a nail hole but there is no nail in it....well i dont want to bring it anywhere before i give it a good shot on fixing it my self....well i put in almost a full can of Fix-a-Flat and that didnt do anything...so what is a better product that i can put in the tire that works well?? slime? or a tire plug?

SLIME IT!
slime is a great product!
they sell an atv preventative leak kit. it is 4 bottles of slime. one for each tire. put that stuff in there and next time you punture the tire it will find the leak and seal it, so you tire wont go flat out during a ride. i have used this stuff in my cars, lawn tractor, and both of my wheelers. it works.

I wouldnt recomend the tire slime if you cruise at higher speeds because it throws the wheel balance off and your quad may start to shake and vibrate at higher speeds. I had a nail puncture and i just bought a plug kit and plugged it. the plug has held up a year so far without a leak.

Don't get me wrong, Slime is great stuff and really works well, but like DG said, it throws the tire balance off at higher speeds, about 45+mph. If you dont go that fast, then dont worry about it. But, when I put on my new rims, I lef the slime out and picked up a good plug kit

Since you've already used fix a flat you probably can't slime them with success unless you take the tire off and clean the fix a flat out. If you don't wan't to do that, then use a plug. If your gonna take the tire off, then patch it and use slime after that. If you use slime set the quad up on stand and let the tires rotate at idle for a good while so the slime can get distributed around the tire.

Take the tire off the rim and clean the fix a flat out of it. I put it a tire before and it made a real mess of the rim. The slime came in my Boss tires, but couldn't seal a slice I had in them. Used a plug and haven't had any problems for 2 years now. Get a plug kit with a CO2 charger and keep it on the quad. You'll never have a problem with a flat again.
