I NEED SOME HELP HERE. I HAVE A 98 400 SCRAMBLER AND HAVE A LINE ON A EITHER 99 OR 2000 500 SCRAMBLER MINUS MOTOR PLASTIC AND SEAT.IT IS IN MUCH BETTER COND THAN MY BIKE IS ,SHOCKS ,FRAME ,STEERING ,WHEELS EVERYTHING.WILL THE 400 MOTOR GO IN WHITH RELITIVELY NO MAJOR PROBLEMS? THE 500 STILL HAS TRANS,EVERYTHING EXCEPT MOTOR PLASTIC AND SEAT.ANY HELP WOULD BE GREAT.WOULD BE LIKE A NEW RIDE IF I CAN DO IT.

 

all the sport, trailblazer, scrambler things are universal. the only difference might be the engine mounts. if its cheap i would say just buy it

 

SO WHAT WOULD BE A GOOD DEAL ON SOMETHING LIKE THAT,THE GUY WANTS A GRAND,DOSNT SEEM TOO BAD CONSIDERING ITS DAM NEAR NEW,SHOCKS,4X4,RAIDIATOR,BRAKES THE WHOLE WORKS AND A TITLE ALL THIS FOR A THOUSAND BUCKS ,SOUNDS KINDA FAIR TO ME WADA YA THINK?

 

sounds good. try to get it for like 700 but dont go no higher than 1000

 

between $700-1000 GREAT DEAL! you probably wont have much trouble getting the motor in there, its the same frame

 

Use the mounts from the old, should not be a problem...

 

picked up the 500 today. oh boy.hope this deal works out ok.i cant belive that i cant find anyone that has done this motor swap,yaknow,for some pointers ,advice or whatever.oh well guess ill be the first.no tellin when ill get started or finished,well'see.

 

Motor mounts and take off your oil injecter and it should swap ouuut ok.Keep us posted

 

wont i need to take my coil and cdi and replace .in place of the 500 ,ya know 4 stroke,2 stroke.other than that im hoping it;ll fire right up. allready disabled the oil pump and mix the gas. hoping to start on it today.

 

PUT THE 400 IN ALONG W/CDI AND COIL.ONLY HAD TO WELD ONE MOTOR MOUNT,THE ONE UNDER THE GAS TANK.JUST ABOUT THE EASIEST THING IVE DONE,AS FAR AS REPAIRS. IT FIRED RIGHT UP AND IS NOW LIKE A NEW MACHINE.[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img]
