Default rear axle problem.

I went riding for the last two day and my rear axle bearing took a **** on me again and this is my first ride with them.

My buddie and I followed what the book said step by step. And since we finish, I've been checking for slack of the rear bearings after every test ride I've done and there was zero slack. Then the second day of riding, me and my buddies checked the bearings just to see if there was play in the bearings and there was. I thought maybe the axle nut got loose. So one of my buddies (BigBadScrambler) rode back to his car and brought back some tools for me to tighten the axle nut. When I started to tighten the axle the nut, it was still tight. So I took my pred back to my cabin, torn the rear end apart, check the bearings, and the bearings were ****.

I just brought new bearings today. But before I put them in, I was wondering if any of you guys would know how my bearings gone bad. Because they was zero play from the begining and then some odd reason I got some play. I just don't want to replace another set of bearings again.

Sucks it had to happen on such a nice weekend though. Oh well, we still had a good time. Gonna have to develope that film soon. That wheel stand scared the **** out of me!!!! Now I just gotta trace that hub leak down and get that fixed and find out if I twisted the exhaust pipe at all. Kinda sounded like an exhaust leak after getting back on the throttle from WOT.

Please don't get mad for me asking basic questions. Are you guys packing the bearings with grease before you install them? Are you making sure to "pack" the bearing housing with grease before you seat the seals? Are you using a quality grease. After working with the Polaris purple grease, and a variety of solvents.....the stuff sticks to everything, that's what you want.

Yes, I did pack the bearings with grease. I use golden spectro synthnetic grease. My question to you is what do you mean pack the bearing housing? I pump a lot of grease in the bearing housing in the grease nipple. I just finish putting my bearings in today. Should I take it back a part and pack the housing or just pump a **** load of grease?
