I cut the tube that extends into the airbox back but could tell no difference in power. My shifter is from wal-mart and looks like the one Jack Schultz has on his sport

quadkid21,

Hey, You can never go wrong with K&N . They are washable and reusable, and for the money, it does work very well for keeping extra dirt and dust out. The oil treatment is the key. Keep it clean and oiled. You will never need another, and the air flows much better. Even if the performance gain is minimal, its the engine that thanks you for it. Whats 30 bucks, when a new quad or engine rebuild cost big $$. Id recommend K&N as a first mod to ANY bodies quad, (or car for that matter).

You will get some sharper throttle response with a K&N or a Uni-Filter. Both are a lot better than the stock POS. I use Uni-Filters, which I bought three of, so I don't have any down time waiting for filter oil to dry. I always have two on the shelf in a ziplock, ready to go.

I remember seeing on the reciept that they re-jetted the carb, although I have no idea what size they went to. The thing is actually fun to ride now.

hey will, your quad must look similar to mine! the whal-mart shifterknob is great, but i got tired of it falling off with the 3 screws and drilled a hile in the top and used the stock screw to hold it on. how much is the whole rcr stage 1 kit?

machine: '00 trail blazer; yellow shock covers, yellow skid plate, custom shift ****, rear rack

I haven't had any problem with it falling off but it is now backwards since I put the pipe on. I have to push it foward to go in reverse and pull back to go foward.
