Default Predator? Why? Why not?

Thinking of getting a predator. I have never rode on.....I did start one up at a dealer ship, and set on it. This is for all the Pred guys.... Give me some good reasons to get one. Throw some prices at me too. The wife thinks I should keep the what I got. I just wish they where 2 stroke. I have heard they are fast. What do you think I could get for trade in? Or should I sell it out right? Help me out!!!!! Was they a promblem with the 03. I thought I see some stuff on here about the trany.

Within the first 30 mins. of riding, you'll love the torque of the 4-stroker. Excellent turning radius. Zero bump steer, and as a side benfit, greatly reduced steering impact feedback. The 04's had some shock re-work to fine tune them. Also the trans was perfected. Composite, bullet-proof rear skidplate. Chromoly axle (other quads make you spend $400+ to get this). Braided brakelines.....the list goes on, and on, and on.

Will the dealer ship let you ride on 1st? I think I have my yamaha buddy talked into one also. We might go with the buddy deal. I have heard great things about the Pred. Are the pipes a slip on or not....which are the best?

You will love the 4 stroke power believe me. The pred is really fast stock it has a nice powerband hit in the mid range. I paid 5,600 OTD for my 04 TLD,,,IMO the TLDs look the best out of the pred line up i just drool all over when i look at mine.

I cant find anything wrong with mine, the tranny shifts easy and smooth handling is amazing plus it comes with lots of really nice things stock like: chromoly axle, razr tires, douglas rims and a few more things you really cant beat the pred for the price.

The only little miss hap i have had is the upper ball joint took a crap on me not sure why but polaris is going to fix it for free. BTW my dealer said i'm the first 04 owner that had this problem maybe i just got a bad ball joint.

Good Luck, if you have anymore questions i'll be happy to help.

You would love the "bullet-proof" durability like modquad said. In things like the axle, a arms, steering linkage, And rear skidplate. Watch as your buddies constantly bend and break their parts. While I have never. It does sound kind wierd that it has 2000 bucks in upgrades. But it does, Just making everything so much stronger. And its cheaper then its competitors.

As for exhaust, the Pure Polaris/White Bros slip-on seems to be the most consistant power producer, as well as controlling noise very nicely.

The pred is a good choice. I think they are kind of ugly in stock form but i cut the plastic and did some other thigns and it looks pretty sweet now. The best pipe to get would probably be the yoshimira pipe because it is the full exhaust. the wb purepolaris pipe is just a slip on and it works great with the stock header pipes when jetting and some carbuerator changes have been made. the purepolaris is what i am using right now and in stock for i would go around 53-54 in 100 yards and now i can run 58-59 in 100 yards. The stock header pipe is really great and many manufactures of pipes cant make one produce more hp than the stock header. If u are in to drag racing and planning on doing a lot of engine mods to ur predator go with the HPD pipe.

I just got back from riding at a atv park....and I seen a guy on one, he said he paid 4,800 OTD. Wow that is cheap. I also found out that they do not have revirse. That kinda sucks, but I can llive with it. I think noe I have 2 buddy's talked into one. I think they would give 3 guys a good deal. The guy that had one was going to get the KFX 450 instead he got the DS 650 and did not like it at all, so he traded the DS in on the Pred. he also said that he has a friend that has a piped Raptor and his stock Pred stays with him all the way. I'm going to try to go to the dealer ship this week and talk to them.

im questioning the same thing RAJ, ok first of all....give me an estimate of what i should ask for my 1999 sport 400 ported, bored over .20, KN air filter, carb work (tuned), FMF turbine core 2, brand new cooling system (radiator and fan motor and fan), DG front bumper and scott grips (lol) , but it has about 60 - 50 % tread on the rear tires and u have to pull start it....

and about the predator i found one for 4595 and it has WB slip on with nerf bars already on it and its a 2003

any comments ? cons? pros? suggestions?

thanks for the info
