The front page of ATV Connection has information on a recall of 13,000 Polaris ATVs with a possible sticking throttle problem. Check on it and see if if affects you. It is a potential issue of personal safety. There is a link to get further information.

Just to add to Txdocs post, this recall involves some 1999 and 2000 Scrambler and Xplorer 400 models and also some 2000 Sport models. Anyone who has one should have been notified already, but if you have purchased a used bike the notice may not have caught up with you yet.
Better check it out guys. We dont want any one hurt. For more info go to www.polarisindustries.com
or call !-800-polaris.

Has anyone ever experienced stuck throttle on an ATV? I never have on an ATV, but was riding in a Dodge truck that did. The driver had a looked over with a panic-stricken face as we were going almost 80 with a 5-wheel trailer behind. I am sure riding in the woods would leave you a lot less reaction time to hit the kill switch. Hope anyone with the potential of a problem does not delay in getting it checked, especially if their spouse or kids may ride the ATV.

TxDoc2,

No have not experienced it on an ATV. Put a '78 Riviera to the mat one day to pass somebody. It stayed that way!! Discovered that the recently rebuilt carb had the cruise linkage hooked up wrong and it snagged on something else.

Sure wakes you up in a hurry!

The recall was to check the ETC cover and gasket. Some were getting mosture in them and causing the switch to malfuntion. It was covered in a prior post.

All the releases that I read, say that some Scrambler 500s were effected by the recall. I called my dealer, and he said that it was only 400 Scramblers. Sure hope he knows what he's talkin' 'bout.

had the pedal in my mustang stick to the wood while I was behind a car.I Was standing with both feet on the brakes. I couldnt reach the key on the dash while standing on the brakes. Put in the clutch and then hit the key. I figured the motor went over 8000 rpm before I hit the key. The kicker is the car I was behind was my girlfriends mother LOL. Opend the hood and a plug wire was piched beteen throttle linkage and the manifold. That was 22 yrs ago. My Polaris hasnt stuck yet.

I had the throttle stick on my 99 400 scram about a month ago i posted it with a sticky throtle post. Yes it is not fun and yes i was pissed, just before this happened the throttle had gotten real hard to push , at that time my wife was riding on it i told here i didn,t want here to ride it home, so i let here have the yellow sp 500 . Guess what it stuck at about 3/4 throttle in the woods and mud it stayed that way for about 10 seconds then it popped loose and was fine i complained to the dealer and remember this is a brand new bike a month old. He said don,t ride in water. Well KISS my AS$!!!!!!! It sat at the dealer for a week not even looked at so i picked it up bought a new cable and then found out that it was not the cover it is garbage in the oil pump cover mud grass silt dirt you name it. so i fixed all that Not under warrenty my money.i will be trying it out soon to see if i got the beast fixed. Yes it does stick get it in for the recall !!!!!
