I bought my 95 scrambler three years ago. So far two weekes after i got it the engine blew. Over the lasts two years I went through three CDI boxed, Two rear chains and sprockets, two sets of struts before i got my Fox struts, starter which now does not work, eats belts for breakfast, four light bulbs, sterring post(Never been rolled either) Two batteries. Besides that I had all the general wear like bushings, and bearings. Don't get me wrong i grease it every time i ride and change the oil's twice a year. Today I was ready to launch it off a cliff just when I thought nothing else could go wrong my damn engine went tight. I HAVE HAD IT!!!!!!!!!

Sounds to me like you need to get rid of that (we all know and hear often)piece of junk and get you a TANK or HUMMER.CM

Thats the problem I have had it for sale for about a month now. I just decided to take it out for a quick spin and the engine went. Could this mabee be from improper warm up? It is not really a "Wanted" machine. By the way it is still for sale It will have a rebuilt motor. Fox struts, RCR stage-1 kit
$2500 Reasonable???

Well with all these recalls with Polaris and all the complaining you guys do I think Polaris is about to go down, if you know what I mean.

I like the looks of the polaris machines and I hear their great in mud and on slippery surfaces but I don't think i'd ever buy one

Just my 2 sense for you guys.

Polaris will never go down-way to many riders to say that, my dad has one and he loves it never has problems with it, and it is a farm beeter-never gets maintained and doesn't breaks very often. The way i look at it I got a how could I say it? Mabee lemon? A crappy first production run? 95 is the first year of the 400 scrambler 4X4 right? I don't want to start a damn war, but you mean to say honda or yamaha has never had a recall?

Lurch77 Aug 11, 2000 12:09 AM

Polaris will not go "down". Everyone know that the pre-96 machines were horrable when it came to reliabilty for the most part. After that, the quality control started to get better. It may be a little worse then some, but it have come a long way.

And mind you that Polaris is the number 2 manufaturer. And they got there even with this bad reputation. Now that the machines are getting better, I see no reason for them to go "down".

You can't say anything about recalls. Honda has had 2. One for the ESP on the Forman, and one for bad welds on the Rancher.
Yamaha has had them too. They just did a recall on the Big Bear Buckmaster Edition not to long ago.
All things mechanical will break or wear out. I work with 40 million dollar airplanes everyday. I do all the electrical work on them. For 40 million each, you would think they would not have a problem. But we get service bulletins all the time telling us to look at something, or replace something, because it maybe or is faulty.

It is the nature of the beast.

Polarisracing, where did you buy your Scrambler from? You bought it used, right? I go to Manitowoc every once in a while.

PolarisRacing Aug 11, 2000 12:53 AM

BADGER CYCLE-Right by Fleet Farm. Damn honda dealer.

Heck, if you got 5 years out of a stock piston, that's EXCELLENT. I had made the second PAYMENT on mine when the piston gave up.
Punch that baby out, put a new piston in it with new gaskets and let'er rip.
