I was at my dealer today seeing how my predator was coming along. Got to talking with one of the guys(an employee) there about dunes etc, he was saying most places out west quads are street legal which i knew. anyway he said Polaris developed a CONCEPT quad called the Predator 500 R which will have EFI turbo charged same 500cc DOHC 4 stroke but will make 85rwhp and will have reverse and a 6th gear added for highway use, it will come stock with everything to make it 100% street legal. It will only be available in states in which ATVs can be made street legal. Since it makes over the 50hp in most states it will be seen as a OHV and our government will see it as a form of motorcycle because the top speed of the so called Predator 500 R will be 120mph to handle any highway needs etc.

Like i said its only a concept quad, it may or may not be produced.

This is what i was told i haven't seen anything to prove it, when he was telling me it didn't seem as he was making it up sounded like he knew all about it..

 

BTW he said the Predator 500 R will be at home on the road and on the trail.

He said it like this "You can wake up drive to work, and on your way home you can stop at your favorite riding area and have a blast"

 

Sounds sweet. I want to see a prototype of it.

 

That should be pretty bad a$$ if they actually release it!

 

I dont know about being able to go from freeway to the trails...the reason why I say this is because of the tires...if you use street tires...your traction on the trails will suck...if you use trail tires...well they would get eatin away quick...but that is just my thoughts....would be cool to see tho

yes its always an amazing surprise to known what behind the dark
walls,i heard some amazing rumor like this about sleds too,you just
can't imagine all the prototype they test in there...
remember polaris testing a 500 cc 2 stroke some years ago at the factory and it was not ever released yet...
anyway it can be very true,let's see,,,

wouldn't be cool if the factory started selling their prototype machines?...just a fews each months...
