I think you'll find the 500 has a little better resale down the road. It only matters if you are going to sell or trade in 2-3 years or if your thinking about buying a used machine now.

Now with that said, I hope this doesn't turn into a "price" thread bashing. It is just my experience in Minnesota and advise given to me by my dealer.

Wouldn't a 500HO fuel injected be nice for 2005?

Default 500 ho or 700 twin HELP!!!!

if it was me i would go with the 500 not onlybecause i alerady have one and i know its a great machine but it has been around for a long time the engine has been here sence 94 and it is still here so its very proven. the 700s havent been around quite long enough for me to trust them right now. i may in the future, also the 500 will accellerate almost as fast as the 700 just lackin the top end the 700 does have with a few mods the 500 is a mean machine. the 500 also has a back up recoil starter that the 700 doesnt have.

all and all go for the 500 it will save you some money and with the moeny you do save you can add on accessories. good luck with your decision

let us know what you decide on

Default 500 ho or 700 twin HELP!!!!

Are you talking about 700 Carb or EFI?? If you are considering the 700 carburated VS the 500 HO I cant really offer any advice as I have never ridden the carbed 700. But I can tell you that as far as the 700 EFI vs the 500 HO there is no comparison. I have an EFI and my dad has a 500 HO both 04's or 04.5 whatever and my 700 EFI runs the 500 into the ground.. throttle response, power, speed, startup..everything. I almost got a 500 myself and I can not even tell you how happy I am that I went with the 700 EFI.

I am not in any way down playing the 500 HO it is a great machine, and if the 700 EFI wasnt out there I would own the 500 myself. But do yourself a favor and atleast try the EFI it is awesome.. You wont be able to wipe the grin off your face..

Default 500 ho or 700 twin HELP!!!!

I think the 500 is probably a more reliable machine, 2 of my buddies have 500HOs, they have had no trouble what so ever. My roommate has a 700 and it seems like every time he rides there are problems. The 500 has had the bugs worked out, I don't think the 700 has. I have an 03' 600 and have had a couple of minor problems but nothing like the 700.

Default 500 ho or 700 twin HELP!!!!

If buying new I would wait a month and see if rumors are true on a 500EFI and go with that.Going on a used one I would say stick with the 500 it is more proven and has all the power you need.I have too many frieds that have 700s in the shop right now.

Good point, Polaris500HO4x4, the 500 does have the back up recoil start. Why did they not include this in the 600 and 700?

Default 500 ho or 700 twin HELP!!!!

When my bike was only a few months old I found out, in the woods alone, that the battery had gone bad and the bike would not turn over. I was glad to have the pull cord that day.....
