HELP!

alright i just got a new 2004 Scrambler 500 4x4, it's the first machine i've ever had and was wondering all kinds of stuff about it. I took it for my fist ride today and loved it, i beat a stock raptor 350 on a long stretch. Anyways, for a brand new machine i would like to know what i shouldn't do, since it's new. Is it bad for a new machine to be pinned for a long time? I'm not sure why but i had it pinned going up a hill and when i finished the hill it stalled, could it have been the heat? Also i've taken it through some deep mud, it did fine and i know it's an atv but should i maybe wait for it to be broken in a bit more, thanks for all your help!!!!!!

Hey man, Welcome to the forums! I don't got a lot to say except, let it be broken in a bit more dude.... I'm no mechanic but being that it is new, try not to get into situations where u need to pin it for long times, or anytime where the engine is workin overtime such as in thick mud. Hope ur bike meets ur expectations tho dude.

ok, to all you scrambler owners with out wanting to put extra money into it, for example performance exhaust, better tires, and whatnot, how much money do you put into it a year lets say for oil, maybe something that might break, or something like that, not including gas. Also, i've already ridden about 3 to 4 hours, and tommorow probablly 7-8, that's approx. 12 hours, is that ok? Thanks again.

if yer gonna be riding it alot,,
i would say plan on changing the oil at LEAST twice a year.
a new chain might be necessary,, unless you spend the bucks to buy a heavy duty one(like the X-ring).
a new air filter unless you get a k&n.
new belt
youll probably roll it at least once(who doesnt), so add new handlebars...
new grips might be necessary. the stock ones suck.
im sure there are others that i cant remember right now. someone else will pick up where i left off.
