Default 425 over 700

I have a good one . A guy I know has a 96 425 Magnum 4x4 and it quit on him last fall and he said heck with it and went out and bought an early 04 700 Sportsman. Just latey he decided to get ithe 425 going for his wife and they raced the two for fun.
They raced 5 times on pavement and that 425 beat the 700 every time.
I never witnessed it but thats the story

He did the say that the 700 was slowly catching up but that it was all but over by then.

The 700 must have had 4 flat tires. There is no way a 425 Magnum would beat a 700 unless the 425 was running Nitrous or something.

Well Im not sure Im surprised, after reading the big bore shootout in ATV magazine, It had the 700 Sportsman (carbed version)hitting 40 MPH in something like 7.8 seconds, the Suzuki Vinson for example was hitting it in the high 5 second range.
My 04 400 Sportsman hits 40 MPH right around 6 seconds. (im not stock) . SO either they had a typo On the 700 or there was a problem. I assume there was a problem... Polaris isnt the best at delivivering these machines with the best Belt alignment/ deflection and that will DEFINITLEY have an effect on performance.. It seems some machines are delivered spot on and have great performance, and others are delivered not quite right and have sub-par performance. I suspect this may be the case, as Im sure Im not gonna beat a 700 Sportsman to 40 MPH on my 400 Sportsman.
