Is the 700 EFI really worth it over the 500 HO
#11
I have posted this serval times.. my dad has a 04.5 500 HO and I have an 04.5 700 EFI ... I wanted a 500, but at the last minute went with the 700. There really is no comparison in the two.. except they are both great machines.. Power, throttle response, acceleration.. do not compare
I have had a ton of feed on a 10 foot trailer and pulled it up an incline with my 700.. I didnt try it on the 500 but I dont think it would have done it in fact I am almost positive it wouldnt have..
If you are even considering the need or want for more power you might as well get the 700 or you will be pissed at yourself down the road.. thats how I made up my mind.. I thought what if I get in just one situation where the 500 wouldnt do the job I needed I would have been pissed at myself for not opting for the 700. Thats my mentality, it might not be yours, but I dont like to second guess myself on stuff. Matter of fact I have only had my 700 for a little over a month and now after the 800 came out I am pissed I didnt wait and get it.. Power is good

Rawzon, could you tell a huge difference? Did you pull anything with the 500? Did you ever feel the 500 was underpowered?

i looked at both before getting my 500HO ... as my dealer said and i found out ... i've never been stuck in mud or pulling a trailer that the 500HO wasn't spining all four tires.

That is exactly what I figured. My older 500 (non HO) never was in a position where it wouldn't turn the tires if it got the weight behind it. This is exactly what I want to know. How much power can you actually put on the ground before it breaks loose. I know the 700 efi is stronger, but at a lower speed, both have more than I could ever use. Who agrees?

I just want to be able to pull my trailer up my hill and not be stranded halfway because of the lack of power. That happened last year with a 400 honda, and it was really bad.

Back to the sled pulls.
Low Range, AWD. All models are pinned wide open. The sled's weight slowly moves forward placing more and more weight on the drag plate. Though tire sizes are the same, the 700 pulls much farther than anything else before finally spinning out and coming to a halt from the load of the drag sled, having pulled it farther, with more weight on the drag plate than any other quad, including SP-600, SP-500, SP-400, even a 330 Magnum 4x4, and a Honda Rincon, Kawi 650, Grizzly 660.
I know a machine that will outpull it however,,,,,,,the new SP-800!

I have the 700EFI and ride with guys who have 350 warrior, 500 scrambler, Kodiak and Banshee. The 700 will whip all but the banshee and he rode the 700 and said he was amazed at what this big machine could do. I think an earlier reply said it all when he said the 500HO will have all the power you need, but will it have all the power you want? I owned a Honda 450s with mods for four years. Yes that Honda was tough and it could pull trees I cut down, go up big hills and was a decent mudder. My 700EFI will do bigger hills, deeper mud, pull more weight and do it faster and with a better ride and handling. I know a 500HO is superior in many ways to the 450S, but IMO the 700EFI is also superior to the 500HO.
