OK i had a dealer install a winch on my 04.5 SP400, and when i got it i was surprised to see not a warn but a Superwinch 3000lb. Ok the winch can pull a ton of weight, but the cable seems messed up. For example, if you let ANY slack on the cable, the remaining line on the drum all unspools and backlashes, so you must unwind the whole cable and then rewind it, feeding it back and forth by hand. Also, when powering in with a load, even at no line angle, it does not evenly feed back in forth, it just piles up very quickly, eventually hitting the frame outside the drum and damaging the cable. Even though i am very careful, ie. winch in one foot, then unwind, and rewind feeding by hand, there are many crushed and frayed spots on the cable- and this is after one use... do winches usually uncoil when they do not have a LOT of force pulling on the line? any help would be appreciated...

Superwinch wrote back and said that all winches have this problem- but mine is so bad i can only winch in a foot or so, then must rewind the whole cable manually...
