yeah the xplorers have good power. my stock xplorer actually beat my piped scrambler 500 in the sand.

The older 400 Sportsmans had the 400L 2 stroke in them. The same motor in the scramblers and sports. Which means the same mods would apply (85+hp[img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img][img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-happy.gif[/img])

 

ive thought about modding my xplorers motor or maybe getting a powermaxx for my scrambler and putting whats currently on it on the xplorer but i dont have nearly enough money [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-frown.gif[/img]

 

yeah, found out i wont beable to buy another quad financily [img]i/expressions/face-icon-small-mad.gif[/img] I guess it time fro mods on the warrior !

 

we got our 500 new in 98, wow, what an awesome machine it is! you can go down the road at almost 60, go through deep mud and snow, pull whatever you want, it's just great.

my father in law just bought a 95 polaris xplorer 400 4x4 with 1900 miles on it, it came with a warn actuated lift and 48" plow. the quad is in good shape and he paid only $1500 for it. the xplorer looks exactly like the sportsman, I don't know about the differences between the two but it seems to ride pretty good. the only thing is the older ones are two stroke and chain driven and have oil injection wheres the new ones are four stroke and shaft driven.
