During a ride over the weekend, my buddy with a 04.5 700 EFI used more gas than I did with my 04.5 700 carb. About a gallon more. We both went basically the same distance and filled up at the same time. Both bikes were bought within a week of each other and have close to the same mileage. His is stock and mine, well.... is not. Wheels, 27" tires, clutch kit.....
So in answer to your question... Yes, I think 54 miles on a full tank is low... Is the bike real new and still breaking in?

At roughly 4200 ft elevation (this matters), my EFI 700 uses WAY less gas than my carbed 700. Not just on one ride, or one weekend, but over the course of almost 500 miles and several months.
The EFI should be using less gas assuming similar riding characteristics. If not, you got something bad going on, believe the gas gauge, or are getting your gas siphoned, hehe.
I get 80 miles out of a full tank.

i get any where b.t 65 and 75 miles on a tank depending on how hard we are riding....
tofastforyou, i wouldnt be in any hurry for the tool to adjust the tps....it only took a month n half for my dealer to get the tool.....and its a pretty good sized dealer not a shop down an ole dirt road and thru the hedge row either ahahhaha....
im not saying ull be waiting..but there is a good chance.......if you look it up online they have instruction on how you can build your own tps checker......with a 9volt battery an ohm meeter and some parts from radio shack.....
if i find the link ill post again
