Just wondering waht tire recommendations everyone would say?
most of the driving I do is in the woods. when it rains it gets muddy. right now I have the OEM's that come with the sportsman however have already punctured them twice.
looking for something that can take more of a bewating on ruff terrain

get mud-lites, they're the best, and don't change brands after that.

 

Check out the ITP 589's they are 6 ply and look mean on a sportsman, not like the wimpy badlands....

NICE Pictures. What exactly does the spring spacer do? I imagine it would stiffen the front suspension a bit. How much did it raise the body and was that the purpose?

I just put aset of 25 inch 589"s on my 04.5 HO and they seem to work good so far ,lots of traction and they look good to not as good as the 26 inch which I had installed on my stock rims first but they wouldn"t clear the tie rod ends without spacing or new rims and I didn"t want to do that ,they sure are a chunky tire though but I weighed them both on my stock rims and the 26"s where about 10 pounds heavier then the 25"s so I am kind of glad I went with the 25"s for performance reasons.I had a set of 25 inch mudlites on my 400 xploder and they worked really good but they had the 11/16 inch tread on them (not very aggressive looking ) so that is why I went with the 589"s just hope they perform as well as the mudlites.,now I shouldn"t have to go around the mudholes .

 

From day one I didn't like the way my HO would sit nose down and the way it would dive in the turns and under braking. I read a post somewhere that guys were putting 2"x2" pipe under the springs to stiffen them up. I came across these 1 1/2 pipe fittings at work and they worked great. Got my buddy to pry the spring up on the strut and I slipped them in and tightened them up. Didn't have to unbolt the strut or take the spring off. It lifted the front about 1 3/4", no more nose dive and the bike sits level level now........

 

Hey NBsportsman: Did your brushguard come with mounts for the fairlead on it? Cause I bought the polaris one and it has two mounts on it. They were a little to the left of where my Superwinch needed the fairlead, so i had to redrill the holes in the winch mounting plate (not fun with a cordless drill) and move the winch to the left. Also, my brushguard has two small bars infront of each headlight, not one like yours. You have a 2004 guard right?

 

NB.I had a look at your pics. nice ride, are they 25 inch or 26 589`s on your HOE ?also are the couplings under your springs a specialty coupling or would I be able to get those say at a hardware store?

 

progressive suspension sells a kit that does the same thing as those clamps but is adjustable. I spent 160.00 on the kit and I would probably go your way instead. As far as tires, I would really look at Bighorn Radials. I have ridden a Rincon with these and it was awsome

Hey Taylor7 11 my brush guard is an 04 if you look close it has the small bars in front of the lights. Don't know about the mount as the winch and brush guard were installed at the dealer. Great acc. as it not only looks good but works well to protect to front of the bike.
Trenchdigger the couplings would be used to couple 1 1/2" pipe for sprinkler systems. They have a proper name but I'm not sure what it is but you could check with a plumber if you can't find them at the hardware store. They come with a rubber type gasket inside but you can chuck that. Also what you see in the pic is the original Rawhides. When they are wore out I will be getting 25" 589's....
