Scrambler 500 - Belt Noise? Clutch Noise? Help
I have a 2001 Scrambler 500 2x4 that I added the HeelClicker clutch weights system to about a year ago. This quad is a beast and does surprising well in the dunes for an automatic. I have put it up for sale and the first person who came looked at it said "show room condition", "idles perfect", etc., etc., but was scared off by the high pitch rub sound when excelerating (engaging/disengaging the belt). Now the sound has always been there since we added the clutch weights, and the belt looks like still new condition, and there is no noticable signs of rubbing or anything. I even took it to a mechanic when we first put it in and said normal sound with agressive clutch system. The guy has me a little worried now about the "high pitch howl" is what he called it, but because mechanic says normal, I don't know if the guy just didn't have any experience with a belt driven system or he had a good point.
Has anybody else out there added the heavier spring/clutch weights for the low-mid range power and do you have a similar experience? Or, does anybody have any ideas what I should be looking at? I need the money so I priced the quad at what I thought was very reasonable $3600 for a gentle used quad, but I don't want anybody to get stuck with something that is going to break down.
Thanks for your help!
