Default Predator Cutting Out

Hey guys...my question is for some reason when i'm riding my pred it cuts out. It doesn't die but it just plain stops igniting at that moment. And it will do that a couple times in a row. Not all the time but only when accelerating. It also sounds like its backfiring just a little while its running. It has me and everyone i've asked completly baffled. Any help would be greatly appreciated.

It could be jetting or just bad fuel you picked up.

as ernie said, could be jetting or bad fuel....check the spark plug for the jetting....make sure your air filter is clean.....make sure no vent hoses are blocked.....it might(don't know much about this stuff) could be something with your electrical system too, possibly the cdi??

hey partner, does it cut out more in rough terrain, if so Ive had a couple of those suckers run the etc wire through on the steereing shaft and will short on rough ground and cause the engine to miss and quite often backfire hard. just a thought, cause all the predators harness are routed this way and was not a good spot.

Hey thanks rmk thats what it sounds like I'll check it out. How can I follow the harness through the steering stem? I'm assuming I'll have to dissasemble the whole thing?

that bsr carb has a diapharm on top that if it gets a hole it can cause problems like that.

Thanks sandman I'll check that. Well after inspecting the wiring harness I don't believe thats the problem, everything seemed in order. I changed my spark plug and I installed a K&N filter. It doesn't cut out as much but it still does cut out. Does the predator have a fuel filter? If so where is it located? Thanks for all the help I'm so baffled.

back fire is one of the first symptom of a lean condition, with an k&n with more air then,it should get worse if you doesn't richen the needle 1 clip and see what main jet is there.
