Predator Jetting Qs
#1
Well, my HMF full system should be here by Friday. I want to get it on an running ASAP.
I know you guys can't magically say this jet will work and it will run fine, all i'm looking for is a base line to start from.
I have a K&N drop in with 4 3/8 holes in the stock box, i will also be installing 6 uni vents.
I got a Dyno jet, jet kit for free with my order, it came with a quite a few Main jets and a needle.
Should i use their needle? or uses the stocker? also any shims and needle chip position?
I'm at sea level, any ideas on a what main jet size to start with?
I would really appreciate any help

I had the HardRock airbox mod on mine w/ a White Bro.'s pipe w/ 12 disks...... ended up w/ a 175 MJ and moved the needle 1 clip up.... which moves the needle down. Also went to a 50 pilot jet. That was right on the money for mine. But I see that you have a Dyno jet kit which would be a 186.7 for the MJ..... and I'm not sure for the pilot.... maybe just go get a 50 mikuni pilot . That should be a good ballpark for starters. You might have to play with the needle clip position a bit after to get your midrange right. AND PAY ATTENTION CAUSE YOU WILL HIT THE REV-LIMITER VERY FAST ONCE YOU DO THE MODS!!!! It had me messed-up for a while lol. Also keep a 189.3 or evan a 192 handy for when it gets cold this winter

Havent ever been to silver lake.... a bunch of friends of mine are goin in september ; but I just recently totalled my predator so I'm still waitin for my 05 TLD Predator to come in . I do plan on goin there probably next year if I can keep from totalling the 05 before then lol.
I have been to attica alot and its probably not what you think of as a true dunes. Its mainly a "fill" sand with alot of pee gravel mixed in with it. Paddles are not evan required... matter of fact, its rare that you see someone with them. But it is a fun place to ride if your in the area. Haspin acres is also a blast if your into some hardcore woods riding..... but be aware of peeps around you, it can get dangerous at times since you ARE allowed to consume your preferred beverage ~
Keep in mind trailrider that just because that set-up worked for mine doesnt mean it will be the same for yours. Every quad has a different attitude. I would start w/ the 175 MJ and go from there. Once your MJ is set then adjust your mid-range then mess with your pilot if you need to. I had to go to a 50 pilot because I was havin a lean miss before I got to the mid range.... But I know there are alot of people that dont evan have to mess with their pilot. Its a long and drawn out process IF YOU DO IT RIGHT.... but dont get frustrated cause its well worth it once you get it done.

that is the same carb that comes on the ds, they found that by putting those holes in the airbox the vaccum was affected and not allowing the slide to go all the way up, check some of the past threads on the bomb site you might find some info that is useful, my friends seem to run 160 -170 with those mods on there predators.
