Default 2000 Trail Blazer 250 Trouble

I thought my trouble was carb related, but now I am not sure. It will idle, but bogs and dies if I advance the throttle any. As it bogs, it also forces air back out through the filter (almost as if the carb is working backwards). I tested my Trail Boss 250 (good running condition), and it has good suction when the throttle is advanced, as you would expect, but not so on the Trail Blazer. Is this still indicating a carb issue, or is there something else wrong with the motor?

Maybe you have a leak on the carb boot or maybe you have a vent hose kinked or clogged.

I had already checked all the vent lines and they were fine. I just finished pulling off the carb again and checking the intake boot and o-ring and they appear to be fine. I just retried it, and it fires right up, but I can't advance the throttle without it killing.

I checked the plug and it looks great, so I don't think that is the prob.

I am at a loss here.

I have also found out it isn't completely stock, it has an HPD pipe and silencer. I don't think that would make a difference with the problem I am having though.

The plug is brown/tan colored with no apparent fouling, but just to be sure I tried a new plug and no difference.

I haven't used a tester to check the compression yet (will do that tomorrow), but it is harder than my Trail Boss to pull over.

I tried disconnecting the rev limiter, and it had no affect on my problem.

Thanks,
Bruce
