Change your tranny fluid and see if there are any metal shavings/chunks in the oil.

Here are 2 places to look, 1 sometimes rocks can get pinched between the rear sprocket and the guard, this will cause a bad noise. 2 Rocks and dirt can get into the small space in front of the front sprocket, once they get up there they bounce around on the sprocket and eventually get ground down enough to fall out. This will make the noise you are hearing.
Hope this helps.
Lastly you might want to check the condition of your chain when the rollers start getting loose they will make a grinding noise under load.

I had a similiar problem with my TB. I always heard a noise from the back that sounded like the chain rubbing on the chain guard. I adjusted that chain guard a couple of dozen times... Last ride my friend noticed that when the chain goes around the rear sprocket it wanted to keep following it because the links were binding. When it got past the sprocket it would snap up from then tension. I could grease it but it wouldn't last more than 5 miles. It was only a few links around the master link.
I am getting a new chain put on right now... under warranty.
