300cc compression question
#1
I recently (about 10 miles ago) rebuilt my Xplorer 300 motor with a wiseco 1mm over.
After a few breakin runs, I decided to do a compression test to see how it was doing.
Does anybody know what the compression should be for the 300 motor?
I got 120psi and realize that the motor is not fully broken in yet, so it may still go higher... I know the service limit is 105, but never did find what the compression should be when new.
Thanks,
-Chris

120 sounds reasonable . On a good snapon guage it would proably show closer to 125 . Guages vary dramaticaly .
Service limit of 95 - 105 is about right .
Ride and be happy , things sound fine .

Thanks Rick, this cylinder you bored out is working great so far.
Good to know 120 is about where I should be
I just got the crankcase/cylinder/head I bought on ebay today.
It all looks pretty good. I maybe be sending you some parts over the winter to get them bored/shaved, etc
I never really realized how tiny a 2stroke is until I saw this one sitting on the floor. Looks so much bigger on the ATV.
