best clutch mod for scrambler.
#1
Subject sums it up, I have a 2002 scrambler 400.
the only mod presently was reworking the stock air box, increaseing the top inlet to 2.5inches and removing the baffles. I will order a k&n or uni filter sometime next week. which one is better? I plan on a head pipe, silencer and new reeds in the future. I am not oppos4ed to changeing the spring then if I have to.
In my dennis kirk catalogue they have new clutch springs color coded. Anyone know which one of these would be best? How does the weight of the spring affect the clutch and engagementd acceleration etc. Also what do you guys think of the healclicker? would it be better to pick a spring up from HPD or to use one of these. it seems the healclicker is used more by utility guys. But it leaves me some room for adjustment as I go along.
I figure the clutch is the next best step for my mod steps.

Since you dont have a pipe on it just get you a green Polaris or HPD pring and use it until you get a pipe then get the clutch kit to go with the pipe.

i'll repeat again, the cheapeast mod to do on your clutchs
is to scratch them with sand paper to remove all polish on it,then clean them up well with brake carb cleaner, less belt slipping, more
power to the wheels and no money spent.
it will be difficult to jet the thing with such air mods,
just put the k&n in or just remove the baffle.
what engagement you're looking for?

I'm just looking for firmer engagement, so I will try your trick, does it tend to burn the belt more? I'd like to keep my lifetime warranty.
Also I tend to drag race, and ride trails that let me use 3/4 or wide open throttle.

no real damage, Plenty of cleaning up from fallen leaves, branches etc. Just some wind and some fallen branches. that goes for most of tallahassee, fortunately for us the huricane turned and headed for missippi and alabama. this was not to fortunate for either of these states or there inhabitants.
Ivan was predicted to come straight for talli until the last day or too.
Had to put my quad and three wheeler on the rear prch to protect them from any fallen branches.
