Polaris really did a nice job on upgrades that people want. Now I can see why they weigh so much. The fancy rack system, 26" 6ply radial mud tires, 1.25" hitch, wider, pre-wired and mounting bracket for winch, and the list goes on. Here is the link to the 05 upgrades. 05 Sportsman upgrades What do you think? This allmost makes me want another Sportsman.

Ya they outdid themselves! I waited several months to by my first "real" bike and I'm glad I did, it was well worth the wait. I picked up my 2005 Mossy Oak 700 EFI on Friday and had to take it out today and get it dirty. Lots of power, pulls effortlessly. Lots of great storage a very impressive and highly engineered machine. I'm looking forward to takin it hunting. Great price too! BASE $7,500 OTD (camo) cheers!

I'm selling the wife's SP600, and giving her my SP700EFI, and buying the 800EFI for myself. She always gets my hand me downs :0

It sure does look nice, I love the work light addition, and the wider fenders. The dual exhaust is sweet too.

does anyone know if there is an aftermarket dual exhaust available for the 700EFI? If so, does it wake it up ?

I've got the '05 700 EFI, I definitely like the improvements. As far as the 800's power, didn't really need that, but could be fun for some things, but not really necessary for my riding purposes.

Even though the '05s come with 26" tires, I upgraded to 27's and aluminum wheels. I posted some pics on other threads, but you can look at them here:

Elkbow, that looks sweet!

How much bottom end did you lose taking the bike to 27" tires? Did you have to put a clutch kit in to keep the low end punch? I'd like to go that route, but don't want to sacrifice any power for the additional traction.

According to ITP, the tire/wheel combination on the rear is 8 lbs lighter than the stock ones. Now thats comparing 26" vs 26" ITP's. I went to 27s, but they still feel lighter than the stock ones. The fronts through feel heavier. I don't believe I need a clutch kit because I don't ride alot of mud and when I do, its not very deep. I put on the 589s mainly for winter riding around here. Most trails are hard-pack, but snow can get deeper in some area's.

I just put the tires/wheels on. I haven't ridden them much yet, but seem close to what I had as far as low end power, etc. I will be doing some riding this weekend, will let you know the outcome.

Elkbow, That thing looks awesome. I have the '04 700 EFI and they have really changed the look of that thing. How is the performance? Is it still as noisy in the driveline? How are the improvements? I want that 800 bad, but I know I have enough machine for what I want to do!
