HPD race pipe. on stock block motor.

I want to get a pipe for my scrambler and from what I see the HPD race pipe seems to be best for what I want.
I notice there site indicates a forged piston is required can anyone advise as to why? in most of my motor experience(cars) I've never seen an exhaust that requires a new piston. My 2 stroke experience is limited to what I have learned in the past three weeks.
anyone ran this pipe on a stock piston? any reason not too? I couldn;t find any contact info on there website.

Basically the stock piston is junk.......you will soon learn that when it blows, like everyone has.....put in a wiseco piston. Which pipe are you talking about?? If you are talking about the pipe that get really big at the port, then gets smaller as it goes on......then that pipe is race only......you probably want the trail pipe or something.......Explain more about which pipe you are getting.....if you want to, don't be afraid to just call them up and talk to them too......great customer service......and oh yeah, HPD is an excellent choice......next mod: clutch kit......

I agree with Bradracer. The stock piston is junk, they are bad for busting the skirt off. Make sure you do everything right the frist time, that way you don't have to take it apart again. The ports in the Wiseco, are twice the size then the stock. I would go ahead and put some V-Force Reeds in it also.

I realize that, but isn't that the pipe that is really big(almost makes a complete cirlce, and comes out over your tire.....you also have to make a frame change for this pipe)??? If not, then he's ok, but if so.......you need to have a hot motor to run that pipe, compression and race gas are needed, otherwise it's a waste.......I would say the trial pipe is a better choice.....

race pipe work best with a race ported jug, just the pipe alone
still run great but no top end at all.
cast iron piston (polaris) tend to wear out very fast on modified engine on that quad.as it been tol,the wiseco have twice the port section
trough the cylinder, and run smoother but need special brake-in
period and warm up.

I was speaking of the race pipe, it is the best looking, plus would fit into what I want latter.
I have the stock motor as it was in 2002, to my knowledge anyway. Whenever my rebuild comes up, I will do a wisco piston possibly at a larger bore and get a ported head.
I have good compression, so maybe I should get a trail setup and ebay it latter.
can I go trail mod pipe withut porting? can I use the stock silencer.

The HPD trail pipe is the best all around pipe you can buy. Good bottom and mid range with a great top end. It takes the motor from running 5700-5800 to about 6700-6800 rpms. Whatever pipe you choose, you must get the matching clutch components to make it run correctly and get the most out of it. Unless you totally understand clutching on an auto, but an entire clutch kit designed for the pipe and be done with it. You can also shave .020 off the head and still run pump gas. HPD's trail pipe will come with a pilot jet and 2 main jets to get the carb dialed in. You can also run the stock silencer (which sounds cool) or almost any aftermarket one you prefer. Dont try to relate 2-strokes to any other kind of motors on the planet as they are an animal all their own. The stock pistons are a big hunk of cast aluminum and WILL BREAK. It's not a matter of if as a matter of when.Bubba

how about a hpd trail or trail mod pie verse the rcr highend pipe? it doesn;t say it requires a new piston and looks as if its a good deal, I don't need everything in the stage one kit and sent them an email earlier to see if they could break it out some for me.
Don't know if they will do it, If they will it seems to be a good deal.
