Default High Comp piston for pred questions

Hi guys.....I am really thinking about a high compression piston(wiseco) for my pred.....I think the comp is 12.5........Anyways, what I was wondering, what does this help?? Also what should I look for as far a performance?? How hard of a mod is this?? I have done it on my sport before(back when I had it...it was a 96)......so is it hard.....or pretty similar to the ol' sport??? Thanks guys.... Brad

Higher compression will build torque down low. Across the board power gain. Keep an eye on the octane tho. Since you have the jug off, you might as well bore it. I'm not familiar with a predator combustion chamber, but it might unshroud the valves some.

Brad I am just going up to a 11.5:1 JE piston on my Predator because I want to stay as close as I can to Super Unleaded. I know this sounds crazy but my 727 Raptor had a 12.5:1 Ross Piston, (Which is for sale) it ran well on high octane fuel. But when I built the 740 10.6:1 engine to run super unleaded it just pulls so much harder than the 727.

I am going to wait before installing the piston in my Predator. I want to see how fast I can get it without touching the internal components.

Ernie, I am pretty much at that point.....I need to get into the engie....I really don't want to big bore it.....(for one it costs too much, and for two.....that is the last bore.......and I want some realiability too)......I think I will go with what you said ernie.....I want to still run 92 octane fuel in it......

Ross piston??? Isn't there a big scare going in the yammie forum about those???

NJrappy...thanks for the reply, I'll keep an eye on the valves....

Brad:

Ross makes a very good piston, and JE had some problems in the past with Rappy pistons. But all that is in the past and I would say that all are good. It just depends what kind of deal you can get.

To make any piston more reliable I would ceramic coat the top of the piston and the combustion chamber if you have any money left over.
