I'm not trying to cause any problems but I do have a question. I have been reading about the new SP 500 HO and it sounds like a great machine. I currently have a Kawasaki Praire and I like. Im looking to change over to the SP 500 HO but I'm a little cuncerne with the reliability. This is just through word of mouth. Do I really have anything to worry about or not.

Thanks for your help.

what size Praire? . my buddy Rick has a 2000 300 two wheel drive , that is a nice machine. He really wants a 400 Praire 4x4, but he is hoping for a 500 from Kawasaki. They ride great, it is the only atv besides Polaris that I think has the kind of ride an atv should have.
My 2000 SP has 1300 miles on it so far and nada for trouble, I ride it pretty hard. But I also take care of it too. The 2001 HO SP is going to be awesome , they are taking care of the braking issue some people seem to have , with worn out brake pads. I don't personally know anyone who has suffered any braking troubles.
Like I say I have 1300 miles on mine, the brakes stop as good as the day I drove it out of the dealer. I don't see how you could go wrong with the SP HO. The 2001's are the best Polaris has ever offered.
I bet though if Kawasaki makes a 500 Prairie it will be an awesome beast.

Thanks for the reply,

I have a 400 4x4 and I really like it. I have been holding out for a 500 but I still havn't heard anything. Then I started to read about the new SP 500 and it sounded great. So I'm not to sure what I will do.

Carefull, if you ride it, it could seriously hurt your pocketbook. Mine has been tested many times and may take a hit in the coming months. The AC is already for sale.

If Kawasaki doesn't put EBS on its new machine, then it is all for not, because that is the one thing holding the Prarie 400 back from being a much more popular model.

dhigley, where is "River Heights UT"? I live in North Ogden. If you live anywhere near me and plan on getting a Polaris, seriously consider going to "Big Boys Toys". They have fair prices and know how to take care of their customers. I have no personal interest in this dealership in any way, I just know they have treated me right.

PS where do you like to ride?

Matt

If you are have never rode a Sp500 with ebs you will not believe the difference between it and the 400 with no ebs...they are 2 different animals the ebs is well worth its money on coming down super steep stuff.

I honestly do not know about major problems with Plaris machines. I have a 93 and it has been close to bullet proof. I have original everything except tires. Maintenance is the KEY with any quad!!!!
