What makes this the spring of choice for trail riding? I see that alot of people run this spring and was curios as to what makes it so good. Thanks in advance.

It helps with backshift and prolongs belt life and belt slippage is minimized. Most people will reccomend this spring for even a completely stock machine.

Roller clutch if you have the extra $$$ for it. If you want the cheaper route, then the violet spring set on 2-2 works great. That is what is in the HPD Aggressive clutch kit for the 500 scram

Default Violet secondary????

Thanks guys, but what exactly does it do? Duneaholic......... You said it helps with better backshifting, but what I want to know is "why/how". I think I am going to get it to try anyway, but I was looking for a little more techincal description as to why.

Thanks guys, sorry if i'm a pain in the ****.

The spring has more "wind up" tension as well as increased side load tension from being compressed. The stock red in most works OK, but doesnt backshift as well as it could. The violet reduces belt slip, especially when doing slower technical riding where you want the power there when it needs to be. Better backshifting improves both ends of the clutching. It keeps the CVT in a lower ratio longer for the shift up phase as well as keeping the clutch more in the right "gear" as when you let off the throttle for a second then give it gas again, and also helps keep the belt tensioned while decelerating. I hope that all makes sense, because I cant explain it any better than that.Bubba

What is the difference in the settings, like 2-2, or 1-1. I have the violet for mine, put it in the 2-2, just because thats what most do. I dont know what that means.
