Default Sportsman Gas mileage ?

Hi guys, new to the forum, like to ad my 2 cents worth to the pot on gas mileage.I've always run 500 H.O's been happy with the mileage, traded month ago for a 05 500 H.O, thought the mileage was terrible, figured out to 26.4mpg Canadian.asked the dealer about it, he told me that was close to estimated at 24mpg stock. So had some troubles with the new (used) 05 500, and had a rally commin up yesterday,so they gave me the demo 05 800 SP.So filled it to the top, set the trip and away i went,BTW fuel guage was Broke, not impressed.Ran the rally, lovin the 800 Power, jumpin every hill i crested, and squeezin throttle full wherever it permitted. My Buddy with me on his 03 400 Kodiak ran out 1/2 mile from truck, and i got really nervous with no gas guage workin, but managed to pull in and load on the truck, filled up at nearest gas station and it was 68.5miles on Trip and figureds out to 19.8MPG Can,so for a cost of 5MPG diff then the 500 HO, i like the power, think i'll buy this Trade in and see how it goes. Its a kick *** machine for sure..............

500HO mileage=26mpg
800HO mileage=19.8mpg(hard riding)

Well, it matters to me,because when i go on a ralley with 150 other bikes i don,t wanna be the only one running out of fuel along the trail,so always nice to know how your rig compares to other models, don, tcha think?BTW Saturdays ralley of 110kms or 70miles,i ran out in the gravel pit loading it on the truck, and my buddie with his 400 kodiak ran out 500 ft before me,although i bet it cost him a lot less to fill then my gaz guzzler, heh.

in my opinion you shouldnt be plan on going that many miles unless you bring extra. if you decide to play some where your bike will use more fuel and then if you planned on having enough you find your self short.

I've gotten up to 80km on around 10litres of gas on the 15.6litre tank. So I guess my fuel range would be around 120km or so .. not stellar, but I can live with it.
