I would definitely go with the mobil 1 synthetic motor oil. For temps above 50F, go with the 15W-50. For temps below that, use Mobil 1's 0W-30, 5W-30, or 10W-30, depending on how cold it gets where you live. I probably wouldn't run the 0W-30 unless it gets below 0F. To me, the best oil filter you can run is a Wix 51358. Wix is a quality oil filter at an economical price. And, it's made here in the states, versus taiwan or china. That part number for the wix filter fits all polaris 4-stroke engines.

 

I've heard that Synthetic oil is too slippery for use during break-in. I would stick with a high quality conventional oil until you break-in is complete.

 

Waltz on down to your local K-Mart and go to the automotive section. They are featuring the Penske 6607 and 7317 which will work nicely on your machine for the amazingly low price this week of $1.99 ea. you will be able to buy six of them for $13.00 plus tax.

If you want a chrome one get the EMGO Vulcan 1500 filter from Shadetree or the Victory Motorcycle filter from your Polaris dealer.

$13 from your current source is excessive in price.
