Default 87 TRAILBOSS ELECTRICAL PROBLEM

One of the Machines I picked up did not have a battery, after I cleaned the carb it ran good. This weekend I picked up a battery for it. When i put it in it acts just like when you are going in reverse without pushing in the override switch. It prevents it from revving up in forward, neutral, or reverse. I tried unhooking the switch but it made no difference. I unhooked the battery and it runs great. Thanks for the help!!!

Default 87 TRAILBOSS ELECTRICAL PROBLEM

When you ran it with the battery off the bike you sent too much voltage to the revlimiter and shorted it out. Unplug the revlimiter (it is the box with three wires going in to it. thye one WITH OUT the red wire going into it.
If you need one I have several used ones around.

Default 87 TRAILBOSS ELECTRICAL PROBLEM

Thanks for the help. This is a extra machine to play around with. We also have a 2003 eiger and my sons 96 trailboss. I did not realize it would hurt anything when I got it running with no battery. I wanted to make sure it was gonna run before I put money in it. Thats probably why the light bulbs were blown. Thanks again!!!!

Default 87 TRAILBOSS ELECTRICAL PROBLEM

there were two boxes under the gas tank. I unhooked the one without the red wire and it worked great. The only thing I have left is to get the back brakes freed up. Thanks again.
