Default Ball Joint Swap

Time to swap out ball joints on the 700. Is this even possible to do without using the Polaris "special tool"? I think I have tried everything to get them out but the "special tool". If anyone knows a trick I am all ears. This is an '03 700 and we already had to replace both front wheel bearings and both ball joints (due to being bent). I guess that is what happens when you indo, cartwheel, and roll a 700 + pound machine.
Thanks for any help
Chad, Indy

Default Ball Joint Swap

I just use a slid hammer to pull the ball joins out of my 500, don't know if they changed anything on the o3 but I bet it's the same. Unhook the lower A amr and put a washer on the ball joint and the nut back on, use a 3 jaw buller on a slide hammer and they pop right out. Be careful not to ovver extent the cv joint though. You might be able to push it out just by pumping grease in with the A arm unhooked also. This is all done after removing the retaining plate(just being sure).

What I did on my scrammy, (A am sure it would work ont he 700 too) is pop the ball joint off the a-arm, but leave the nut on a little. Then, take a torch and heat up the bottom of the strut housing and ball joint nice and hot. BE CAREFUL OF HOT SPLATTERING GREASE!!!. Then, I used a pry bar in between the a-arm and strut and pry the ball joint out with the a-arm. Works good. And when you go to re-install it, put the ball joint in the really cold part of the freezer overnight. It will help with the installation
