hey guys, im just wondering what benefits and differences there would be with a new exhaust on a 2001 2x4 500 scrammy. i mean, is it really worth the extra 200 bucks for trailriding?

Yes I think it's worth the money, you will get more low end torq, and probly more top end speed (depends on what pipe you get) And don't forget the sound. Let that puppy breath!!!!

It's definately worth while! Not only will you pick up a few horsepower, but you will also lose a few pounds of dead weight. But-
You'll need to rejet your carb and (probobly) make some changes to your clutching. Depends on which pipe you get; most makers will supply jet and clutching recommendations along with their pipe. They're not etched in stone but give you a good place to start from.
I recommend getting your pipe from one of the many companies that specialize in Polaris machines; most of these guys have a pretty good idea of what works and what doesn't.
I do need to ask you to please try to find as QUIET system as you can, IF you ride anywhere public. It's getting harder and harder to find places to ride without getting hassled. MOST of the time the issue is noise.

If you want something for under $200 then get the White Bros E-Series slip-on. If you want the best money can buy with a full system, then go for the HPD Powermaxx

I can make something that resembles one. I already stamped "USFS Approved" onto the muffler. And, it needs repacking this winter so I am going to take it apart and attach a screen in it so that if the DNR poke a stick in it they will find the screen. Very sneeky!!
