I have a buddy who wants to mod his wife's 425 magnum. He's not intending to race Banshees with it, just wants a little more juice. Anybody know of any after market products for the magnums?

I believe hers is 95 or 96. And I think they only made them a couple yrs. She has the green 2wd. They made a blue 4wd the same yrs.

The 425 Magnum was made from 95-98. It was replaced with the 500 Magnum. I have not modified my Magnum. What type of gains are you looking for? Low end, top end, overall. Since her's is the 2wd model, you can change the rear sprocket. A bigger sprocket will give you more bottom end, but top end will suffer. I would start with a K&N filter. If this is not enough, add a clutch kit. If this is still not enough, then a new pipe may be in order. Hope this helps.

MagnumMudMan, although I appreciate your suggestions, I think I worded my post wrong. What my friend is looking for is not what mods, but where to get mods for the 425. Do you know of anybody who makes a pipe for the 425?

Sorry, I miss understood your original question. I looked on RCR and HPD's website an did not see a pipe for the 425. Go to RCR's website www.rittercycle.com and get his phone number. I have never dealt with Rick, but everyone says he is very helpful. He may be able to sell you a pipe kit or suggest where you can find one. Dennis Kirk has some Polaris clutch kits and I think they had one for the 425. Sorry I could not be of more help.

One of my neighbors has a 425 magnum . A week or two ago he and I fabricated a slip on muffler for it . I had no plans of marketing them but was doing a favor . The 425 does have better throttle response now with a 2mph speed gain . It is much louder than stock though , if that is an issue . We didn't change any clutch settings , my 15 year old neighbor was just looking to make a little more noise . Where I live no one is disturbed by loud exhausts . Primarily, I suppose, because no one else is here.

Since it's for my buddy's wife, I think she wouldn't accept too much noise. Maybe their best bet is the clutch kit and K&N...

Thanks for all the replies.

Supertrap makes a pipe for the 425 Magnum. Look for the IDS-2 quiet series and the noise is not that bad. When the bike is idleing it is not any louder and when you open it up it is not very loud either.
