700 Twin, Fact or Fiction ?
#1
I will be going to the Oceola engine plant this Saturday for the Victory 2000 tour. There will be tours of the engine plant along with some new stuff Polaris is building. I will find out myself if there is really a 700 twin engine being made. Maybe I will even get to see one stashed away somewhere. I will tell you what I see Saturday night after I get back from the rally.
I did talk to some engineers last night at Dulanos Pizza. A local motorcycle hang out. I asked about the twin engine and they both said " We can't confirm or deny that" I will know for sure in 24 hours.

if u can try to get a hosepower number on the 700. im sure they have a sp700 around there for testing.
i think the engineeres response pretty much says that they do have one coming but cant talk about it.
a picture of the sp700 would be great. u could say u want the pic for the"memories" of the trip. LOL

Well... It's true! Although I did not see the engine in person it does exist. I talked to some engineers and assembly line workers. They have had a 700 twin in a Scrambler test mule for over ONE year for durability testing. They would not answer any torque or HP numbers or talk about what kind of transmission it would use.
They did not say when or in what machine this engine will be available. But from the test mule quad we know there is going to be a 700 twin Scrambler. Sportsman? I don't know.
I did see the assembly line where the 700 twin engine is going to be built. On the wall in the engine room there is a picture of a Sportsman. When I looked at the other lines they had pictures of the product they where making on the walls also.
CornCob2 and you other snowmobile people I saw them making 800 twin engines. Engines stacked to the roof awesome.
BTW my Victory had the 4 highest dyno HP of the day. Only two factory guys beat me(gee I wonder why they both work in the engine dyno room) and some guy from Ohio.

did the sportsman on the wall look any different than any other sportsman?? i was hoping that the 700 twin would be put in a all new sport quad, not the scrambler. but maybee the scrambler was just to test the gear box and AWD system.
hopefully we will know officially about the sp700 soon.
