Default Polaris' current offer of a 6 month warranty extension.

Is this something they do often? I don't recall seeing it before.
Is this an extension of the factory warranty, or a free 6 months of the aftermarket warranty. If it's an aftermarket one, how much would 6 months normally cost?
The dealer I am dealing with doesn't sell the aftermarket ones because he says they take forever to pay him.

Thanks.

not sure how often they do it but it's kinda pissin me off cause I just bought two 04 EFI's and they only came with the 6month warranty, I think it's a bunch of crap that we all spend the kind of money we do for our machines and they only come with a measley 6 months of warranty which really isn't enough time to find all the bugs if any the machines have. for the amount of cash we drop on the sales floor the machines should come with a minimum of atleast a year warranty but reallistically they should come with a 24-36 month warranty. what do some of you other guys think.

I just picked up my 05 700 EFI a few weeks ago, and it's my understanding that the additional 6 month warranty is NOT an extension of the factory warranty, but a "free" sample of the extended warranty you can buy from the dealer. I'm not sure how much 6 months of that warranty costs, but I doubt it's that much, nor am I sure in what time incriments you can purchase it. I think it's something like a few hundred bucks for 2-3 years. It also doesn't cover as much as the factory warranty does, and there is a co-pay with each service, maybe 50 bucks. I agree, these machines should absolutely come with a 2-3 year factory warranty.

I was told when I bought my Predator that it came with a extra 6 months. I did not have to pay anything extra. So i;m covered for a year now. You might want to check into that skunksquasher.

RAJ,
Ya, you are are covered for a year- just like me. But it's the factory warranty that everyone gets with their new bike for the first 6 months, then 6 months of the extended warranty that you can buy for after the factory warranty expires. My dealer told me that the extended warranty does not cover everything that the factory one does, and there IS a deductible for each service done under the extended warranty. Got no reason to believe he'd blow smoke up my behind.

I agree, 6 month warranty sucks, should be at least a year.

The Polaris web site states it is a doubling of the factory warranty. The quad is now warranted for one full year. There are no dedutibles. I believe the current promotion is due to expire 31 Dec.

Better read the fine print, Wolfie.

"Double your warranty for free consists of additional six month POLARISTAR Protection Plus coverage and subject to $50 deductible per visit."

Better than nothin, I guess.

You said subject to. My dealer said no charge, period, for the entire 12 months. This is what I retrived off Polaris's web site:

0 interest, 0 payments, 0 % APR for 6 months
9.9% APR and $99 for the life of the loan.
PLUS Double your warranty for free!

edited: I found where it said 50 ded. I stand corrected.
