#1
After much deliberation and procrastination I have finally done it. I will pick up a Blue 2005 Sportsman 500 tomorrow morning.
Now, it's time to get the accessories.
1. Front Brush guard
2. rear bumper
3. hand guards
4. rack extenders
5. heated grips (I can't find them on the purepolaris web site anymore, what's the part#)

congrats Jeff....I thought you were getting the 700?
Polaris doesn't make heated grips that I know of, they make hand warmers that wrap around the standard grips, you can find them here:
hand warmers
Also, on your other accessories if you don't have a discount through polaris, then get them from here....search through the link, you will find the 2005 parts:

Dave,
I wanted to save the $1,000. Thanks for the links. The Breeze store will save me some money. A few questions:
1. Does anyone have the hand warmers and do they work well?
2. Is any drilling required to install the bumbers?
Thanks guys.

Jeff,
If you look on the rear end, to the sides of the rear storage, on the frame, you will see some pre-drilled holes, thats where the rear bumper mounts....
Look at this picture, you can see the 4 mounting bolts: rear bumper
The front rack is simple to install, you need to drill two holes for the rear part of the mount on the front rack....but there is a area inside that you drill from, if you open the front storage compartment, you will see little 'tubes' molded in the plastic, you drill up through those. The other two screws go through were there are already screws on the side of the metal tie-down brackets that are on the front top storage door. There are replacement ones in the kit, that are longer....if I remember right, they will of course go in from the bottom.
