Default SMOKE coming from my 05 scrambler!!

Well, my brother in law and I went for a ride the other day. We took off and he soon fell behind. I went back to find him and all I saw was smoke. The bumd A$$ left the brake on. After a few choice words, we took off. I rode the bike later and the brakes SUCK !!
I'm sure the rotor's are glazed over along with the pads. What if anything can I do to fix this? Will buying new brake pads help? Do I have to turn or replace the rotors?

Please advice,

Rick

He probably also boiled the brake fluid.

More than likely, you will need new fluid and new pads. The rotors seem pretty forgiving.

I wonder how he did not notice the brakes were on.... the acceleration would have been horrible to say the least, heh.

it could've been the belt too....does it slip at all, when you first hit the throttle, try it in 2 and 4 wheel drive???

Well, since my brother in law is 15 he's not that bright. I''l try to pick up a set of pads for the front and rear. The belt to my knowledge doesn't slip. I rode it again last night and it still pulls hard in 2wd and 4wd.

My wife likes to do this every once and a while. I still don't understand why she can't figure out why it seems so slow. She'll even say(while the brakes are smokin)"I thought it felt kind of slow". It happens less and less now. But yes I have had to replace her brake pads early.
