My friend rides a 04.5 500SP and we have traded a few times and after riding mine and getting on his 500, the 500 seems like a turtle. I can rocket up hills in high where he has to switch to low other wise he starts powering out on some of the hills, this could also be related to the fact that my machine automatically adjusts for the elevation changes and his is fixed for a certain elevation. Don't get me wrong the 500 is an excellent machine, but doesn't have enough jam for me!!!

Anywhere Tom : Unless the "Hills" you are refering to are Mt.Everest, a local day of riding isn't going to affect the jetting on your friends quad while climbing. Moreover, your injection isn't going to give you a varying advantage while climbing a domestic hill. But, if you like to fancy that as a noticable feature... I sometimes like to pretend too. Had to work that out while watching some of the recent action movies, otherwise I would've called bull$#!+ and smashed my 13,000 dollar plasma Pioneer Elite TV due to the anger I often feel when I realize that the money I spent renting a particular movie was total waste of gas going to get it. Or worse yet, when I drive to BestBuy and buy the thing because reviews said that it did so well in the box-office. Anyway, I've got this whole pretend thing worked-out to a fine art, so I feel you, Bro.

well, generally the elevations we start at are about 2500ft. and go up to 7000-9000ft. so if you think your factory jetted quad is going to perform well at those altitudes then go for it!! The polaris 500 comes from factory jetted for 1000-2000ft!! My buddy with the 04.5 500spm has just recently had his re-jetted for the proper elevations and installed a dalton clutch kit and still can't keep up!!!!!! Don't forget most guy's with the 500 will spend alot more on performance upgrades to reach the performance of the 700 than I did on the price difference btween the 700 and 500. So I guess you pay up front for performance or you pay as you go to get the performance you want. I prefer to pay up front its cheaper in the end!!!
