Default 500 HO RPM

I see on Aaen's website that the 500 HO motor makes peak hp at 6600 rpm. Has anyone had their sportsman up to that or higher?
When does the rev limiter kick in?
I have talked to Lonn at TPI and he states that these motors are built to run at peak power all the time and that if peak hp is at 6600 rpm than I should tune my clutch for that.

Does anyone else have their clutch tuned for 6600 rpm?

Default 500 HO RPM

I had a phone conversation with Rick Ritter a few days ago about getting more HP out of my Scrambler 500 & beyond bolt on performance mods there is little to gain, it costs about $1500 to gain 4 or 5 HP & the engine becomes a time bomb. The reasons for this are that the Polaris 500 motors have a design flaw that because of ports in their heads being way to big that you need to turn them about 10,000 rpm to get these 4 or 5 HP and the motor could grenada ay any time . Rick advised me to be content with bolt on mods & buy a 400 if I wanted real potental for building up the motor without worring about grenading it. He told me that after the work was done the gain would be so small , I'd feel like he robbed me & the moter could come unglued at any time . So I'll keep my 500 & bolt all the mods I can to it , but I've started shopping for a 400 Scrambler to send the motor to him for internal work. Hope this helps.
