Default 800 Sportsman Tire Size

I am bringing home a Sportsman 800 on tuesday. Will I have any rubbing issues if I upgrade to 27" tires? (10x12 front, 12x12 rear) Also, will they fit on the stock billet aluminum rims?

Also, will I notice any power loss with the 27's?

Thanks for the help.

you just need to be careful on the front...I'm running 27x9-12's on the front....27x10-12's will come close to rubbing the steering linkage....no problems in the area of clearance between fenders though, you could easily put 28s on there and have enough clearance for everything other than the steering...

I have 28x12.5 mounted in back and 28x10.5 mounted in front on stock wheels. I had to use spacers up front so that the tires didnt hit the strut and tie rods.

The 700 and 800 Efi's are the same for the most part. My dealer had a 2005 700 efi on the floor with 10 inch wides on the front and they were rubbing. I wouldnt go wider than a 9.5 on the front on a stock machine.

i have the 29.5 outlaws on my 05 800 and they only seem to rub a little with the tires fully turned but i also put the 29.5-10-12 on the front and the 29.5-12-12-on the rear

By simple logic, anytime you put bigger tires (larger circumference), your 'effective power' will suffer on the bottom end, like pulling out of mud or going a steep incline. How much, I don't know since I have zero experience with CVTs; it's probably minor. On the other hand, you'll theoretically reach a higher top speed (if motor has the *****), and will cruise at lower rpms at any given speed.
I'd make an analogy with a 7-sp bicycle the following way: with bigger tires, is like you removed your 1st gear and added an 8th. The bigger the tires, the more dramatic the difference. With the CVT revving to the moon even at 30 mph, it might be a good thing.
Later.

If you have 1/2 inch by the strut you will be fine. If they dont hit the struts in your garage, they wont out on the trail. If you need more clearance you can run spacers. I had 28x10.5x12s up front on my 800 and needed a 1 inch spacer.
