Default Ignition switch problem

'01 Xplorer 400 4x4

Last weekend I was out riding and we stopped for awhile and I turned the key off. When I went to turn it back on, it was really hard to turn and I broke the key off. It had been getting gradually harder to turn over the last month or so but I figured it had to do with the cold weather. Once i get the key out, is there some kind of lubricant i can put in the switch to make it smoother? If so, what do you recommend? If not, what can I do or what should I look at from making it turn so hard?

i suggest that you get that ignition off of there and either take it apart and clean it or get a new one. i dont think that any lube will fix the problem if you are breaking the key off.

Default Ignition switch problem

I was afraid I'd have to replace the ignition switch. I was hoping to find a work-around though. I guess I'll start looking for a replacement switch. Thanks for replying.
