I went out and read the highlights of that bill and I was appauled at what I read. Basically, the Democratic Liberals want to ban all guns and this is just the start. They put this crap out there to protect the public safety, but these are the same idiots letting the criminals out of the overcrowded prisons. Lets see here, if Al Gore gets elected. Guns will be first. Atvs gone second, and hunting altogther will be last. The liberals won't be happy until all personal freedoms are gone.

MagnumMudMan,
I could not have put it better myself. Registration only leads to confiscation, don't let any of their fancy speeches fool you. And anyone who thinks this is crazy talk you just do some research into countries like Austraila and England. Heck just do some research into what they are already doing in California. Gun control and the land grab, what freedoms are they going to go after next?

All this crazyness is making it's way up here too. We have to register our firearms by December 31st 2000. I don't mind as long as they do not take away our rights to have guns. Try and own a pistol up here. Yea right! The only way is if you are in a shooting club and thats it.

And statistics dont lie, in Austrailia and England, when they banned guns, the crime rate has doubled. All the crimanals have guns, and none of the citizens have anything to protect thereselves with.

I called the local office of BOTH Senator Shelby and Senator Sessions and urged both to vote NO on SB 2099... Call your senator's local office, he / she WORKS FOR YOU !!!!
What sneaky *******s the Democrats are... What senator is responsible for this trash? Does anyone know?

The Democrats want to take away our right to own guns and ride quads. The Republicans want to take away our right to be safe and secure in our own home, and our right to be free from police harrasement and abuse! Oh, and one more thing the presumption of innocent untill proven guilty! Voting for one or the other is like choosing which foot you want to shoot.

A very intelligent post Girzzly. You can't win...and political maneuvers blow things way out of proportion. I'm for regulation of automatic weapons and assault rifles. But I don't want all firearms taken away from citizens.

Politics are stupid and so are the people we elect to lead us.

Excuse me, but just exactly which weapon can not be used or classified as an assault weapon? A knife, a club, how about a rock! Look you register one and eventually you will be registering them all, as well as yourself! Stop the P.C. bullcrap and stand up for your rights. Don't register anything!!!!

This is all a load of crap. Just like time out for your kids instead of a good *** whipping. I had my *** whipped more than just a time or two, and it only made me a better person. Somebody is going to make a case against just about anything and everything anyone does these days it seems.

As far as gun laws, how many gun owners do you see proposing these laws? Its only the folks that don't own, need, or want a gun. I don't have any use for a two seater sportscar, but you don't see me wanting them banned because they go too fast and can produce fatal accidents. It seems that there are too many politicians trying to draw in a certain group of people in order to get their vote. Look at how shady these guys are on some subjects. Trying to please everyone at the same time with their speeches and all just to tie up support. What they are actually doing is working on turning this place into **** Germany or Communist Russia. I won't be surprised if there is a huge wall in Virginia some day separating the country boys from the suits. (no offense to anyone living in the northeast intended here)

Gun laws are one thing that **** me off. People committing gun related crimes are going to get their hands on them regardless of any laws. Like it is said, it is the honest law abiding citizens who get hurt by this. Felons don't have to register guns, because they aren't allowed to own them, and registration would thus violate their 5th ammendment rights. The right not to incriminate themselves. In other words, they can illegally own a gun and not register it, while everyone else can be subject to registration.

Fully automatics- I've always wanted one just for fun. It would be neat to go shoot up an old refrigerator or something, but I will never have one, because they cost too much to begin with. Not many others will ever have one either, because its hard to justify coughing up that kind of money for something that is just for amusement. A ban on that wouldn't effect me, but then again, if I ever wanted one, I would like to be able to get it rather than it be totally illegal. Criminals will be able to get them anyway regardless of bans. Think of this. Is cocaine legal? Hell no. Is it easy to get in the US? Hell yes. Same difference with firearms.

Pistols- Same applies here as. Not all gun owners have pistols anyway, but the large percentage of those who do probably rarely even shoot them. I have a Smith and Wesson 686 stainless .357 mag. I like to shoot it a lot, but I haven't even shot it but maybe one time all year. Even though I don't use it that much, and when I do, its just for shooting into a clay bank, I sure don't want to see it banned by some yuppie a$$wipe.

Go to a pawn shop and look at how many guns they have lying around. Then think if there are that many in just one small place, how many there are in the US alone. Does somebody actually think that a ban on certain guns will keep them out of the hands of criminals? Some of them, but not to any noticeable extent. There are too many out there, and it would be no different than before.

Semi-automatic- this includes your Remington 1100's and your Browning BAR's as well here. Sporting rifles for large game and shotguns and all. Like this is a good idea. Yeah right. I seriously hope I die before I see the day that hunting is limited to a single shot rifle or a bow.

I can say this, I would vote for Charlton Heston for Pres. in a heartbeat over the majority of these white collared idiots. I can see certain gun laws portaining to different larger cities, but not to the United States as a whole. I don't think I could ever break down and register a new gun myself. Not because it is a bad idea, but basically because it would be just like signing your draft card for the future when the govt. looks you up on the list and comes calling for you to turn in your registered gun that is now illegal to own.
